BA in Global Development Studies from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus; MA candidate at Acadia in Social and Political Thought

Goals for AGSA this year include creating a welcoming orientation for new and returning graduate students to Acadia, focusing on the graduate student experience at Acadia University, and building a warm and encouraging young researcher community here in Wolfville and on campus, while offering strong leadership to the AGSA team on all academic and social ventures!

Hi, I’m Diego. I’m from Toronto, Ontario and I completed by BA in International Development Studies at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. I’m currently an MA candidate at Acadia in Social and Political Thought. This year, I wish to help AGSA create activities and opportunities to enrich the arts graduate community here at Acadia.

Hi, I’m Kathleen! I’m from Peterborough, Ontario and I completed my BA in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and at St. Andrews University in Scotland. I’m currently in my second year of an MSc in Clinical Psychology here at Acadia. This year I’m hoping to help AGSA provide more academic and conference-type activities to allow our Grad Students to show off their awesome research projects!

I am from New Berlin, Wisconsin and went to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to get my bachelor of science degree in Geology. I am a masters candidate in the Earth and Environmental Science program. I hope this year in AGSA to create a sound sense of community for graduate students, aid in their personal or professional growth, and enhance each student’s overall experience.




Amanda Loder

BSc in Environmental Science (Acadia); MSc Biology candidate

Hometown: Bedford, Nova Scotia

Goals for AGSA/your position in AGSA for this year: I would like to
continue establishing a strong reputation/presence for our graduate
students at Acadia and help AGSA showcase student research on campus and
around the community. I look forward to a fun semester, and
meeting/connecting graduate students!




Sara Klapstein

Hometown: Antigonish, NS

BSc in Environmental Science at St. Francis Xavier University; MSc in Integrative Biology was at Guelph University. Now working on my PhD in Environmental Science

Goals for AGSA/my position this year: To integrate visiting scholars, such as PhD students, into the graduate student community at Acadia. While Acadia has limited PhD programs, PhD students from other universities can still work with professors here at Acadia and their presence should not only be recognized but can be a benefit to the university.

Current Programs: MA (English) Acadia,  BSW Dalhousie

Goals for the year: Getting part-time graduate students more involved in campus life
